First Date of the Year

Jaime and I don’t get to go out very often without the kids. Not for a real date night anyway. If we’re lucky, we sneak out one or two times a year. Sounds crazy, but we’re sort of use to it now. It’s actually not a big deal anymore.

We had our first date in about 5 months this past weekend. We had such an awesome time! First, we discovered this amazing, quant little French restaurant, Le Fou Frog. I was a little nervous what to expect. It was in an iffy part of town, but near another famous establishment, so we gave it a go. I am so glad we did.

The atmosphere reminded me of New Orleans. Totally rustic, relaxed French. You can really chill there and not have to worry about dressing all stuffy. The food was fabulous. I had the escargot, scallops and a fromage plate for dessert. Jaime had the clam chowder, filet mignon and crème brulee. There was also a steady flow of wine [wink wink].

Then we topped off our night watching The Great Gatsby at the theatre. I hadn’t been to an indoor theater in probably 5 years. What an awesome movie to catch. I loved the book when I read it in high school and even though it was slow as paste, loved the original movie. It was so awesome to see it reborn in a modern way that 100% stuck true to the original story. Such a good flick.

AND - the coolest discovery ever… we have full bars in our Missouri theaters!? I had no idea. We were at the AMC BarryWoods 24 and people were getting mixed drinks right at the bar, bartender and all. I was happily shocked.
