Merry Christmas! + {recipe} Homemade Hot Chocolate

Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you are all having a fabulous day. We've been opening presents, playing outside with the new toys and I've already started brining my bird and prepping pie crust. I think I am about an hour off time for dessert and am considering only 1 from scratch pie. Still debating *sigh* Anyway ~ I wanted to leave everyone with a super easy mini-recipe, from scratch Hot Chocolate:

Ingredients
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water
2 cups milk
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
Mix the cocoa powder, sugar and salt together in a bowl. In a medium size sauce pan with the heat on medium, mix together the water and milk. When the liquid mixture just starts to get warm, stir in the powder mixture and whisk until blended. Continue to stir the mixture until very hot and take it off the burner. Try not to let it start simmering. If it starts to simmer, it's okay, just pull it off the burner immediately. Stir in the vanilla extract. Pour into cups and serve plain or toss in some mini marshmallows, candy canes, whip cream and chocolate shavings, etc...to dress it up. Enjoy!
