Why Natural is so Important

This is a question I get asked quite often. Not just because I own Milk & Honey Naturals, a solid natural body care shop - but because I’ve been an avid user and pusher of natural body care products, for as long as I can remember. In the past I’ve had quite a few reactions to synthetic ingredients. It didn’t take long to figure out what the cause was, and to avoid those ingredients completely.

Besides the possible side effects of endless cancer types, headaches, dizziness, skin discoloration, skin irritation, allergic reactions, fatigue, pore clogging, etc…

A startling fact is, that the chemicals contained in the everyday unnatural washes, lotions and makeups most people use daily, decreases your immunity, overworks your liver, messes with your weight regulating hormones, and makes you fat. It’s true ladies. Some of the difficulty you may be experiencing losing that last 5-10 pounds, as well as weight gain you may have experienced over time, can absolutely be attributed to the ingredients in your everyday beauty regimen.

These lovely little chemicals have been coined Obesogens. It’s a cute, fancy name for ingredients that completely throw off our endocrine system, therefore throwing off our metabolism. These ingredients are also in our non-organic food. Isn’t that lovely. You don’t have to take my word for it, read up on The Baille-Hamilton Review

Common Ingredients You’ll Find in Over the Counter Unnatural Products:

1 >>> Phthalates: Yup, you’ll find these in your unnatural soaps, lotions, creams and fragrances. They are a truly toxic skin care ingredient that will disrupt the hormones in the body and mess with your weight.

2 >>> Petrochemicals: People have been using man-made chemicals for some time to farm your food, and yes – the ingredients for your lotions and potions. Raw, organic and wild harvested are best to avoid these little fat makers.

3 >>> Parabens: A common preservative linked to breast cancer. They stimulate the production of estrogen, which stimulates breast cancer cells and will also cause you to gain weight.

4 >>> Sodium Lauryl and Laureth Sulfate: Very common in shampoo and soap products. It destroys protein, damages the immune system and can separate the skin layers.

5 >>> Diazolidinyl Urea and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate: Typically used as a preservative. It is a known carcinogen. It can cause severe allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, headaches, damage to the eye, depression. Real nice stuff.
