{recipe} All Natural Play-Dough

I was sitting around last week trying to think of something new to play with the kids, when it hit me...Play-Dough! I forgot I know an easy recipe and had all the ingredients on hand. Especially with really young children, it's the best way to teach shapes, colors and get them used to new textures that might ordinarily make them cringe.

Ingredients
2 Cup Baking Soda
1 Cup Water
1 Cup Cornstarch
Few Drops Food Coloring {optional}

Directions
Mix all of the ingredients in a cold sauce pan until the mixture is smooth and well blended. ***If you're making one color of play-dough, continue with the 'single color recipe' below. If you want to make multiple colors, read the 'multiple color recipe' below.***

***Single Color Recipe***
If you only need one color of play-dough, add a few drops of food coloring and continue to stir until the mixture is smooth. Over medium low heat, bring to a gentle boil. Stir and boil until the mixture gets really thick {about 4 minutes}. Plop out the super thick, hard to stir mixture onto a plate to cool completely.

***Multiple Color Recipe***
Over medium low heat, bring to a gentle boil. Stir and boil until the mixture gets really thick {about 4 minutes}. Separate the mixture into a separate bowl for each color you want to create. Stir a few drops of food coloring into each bowl of hot play-dough, making sure to use a separate spoon for each color so your colors don't mix. You can leave the thoroughly mixed dough's right in the bowls you colored them in to cool completely.

Storage and Play
I like to flatten out my mixture, cover in saran wrap and store in my fridge. It keeps it fresh for months. Every time we want to play, I just whip the play-dough out of the fridge. We play, make a mess, then I rewrap and store it back in the fridge for next time.
