Cranberry Sage Margarita

A couple weeks ago this recipe was passed onto me courtesy of LoSalt. I just had to give it a try. It turned out fantastic! This would make a phenomenal drink addition for anyone throwing a New Year’s party this week. Once you make this drink, you’ll see how quick and easy it is.

LoSalt is just like it sounds. It’s a lower salt alternative to using a regular salt product. This is really great not only for people who watch there sodium intake, but for ME! If I drink a couple margaritas with regular salt, I usually wake up with a puffy face. It’s the wildest thing. It happens to my mother too and it takes hours to go away. Not with LoSalt! Now I can have a couple margaritas and no problem. I’m so glad I was able to find this alternative.

>>> INGREDIENTS <<<

FOR GARNISH
Lots of sage leaves
About 1 cup of cranberries

FOR DRINK
1 lime
1/4 - 3/4 teaspoon LoSalt (depending on your glass size)
1 and 1/2 ounces of your favorite tequila
2 sage leaves
4 cranberries
1 ounce cranberry juice
3/4 ounce fresh squeezed lemon juice
1/2 ounce of your favorite triple sec
1/4 ounce (about 1 teaspoon) agave nectar

>>> SUPPLIES <<<

You’ll need a drink shaker. You can pick one up at Wal-Mart for $15. We use ours all the time for homemade margaritas.

>>> DIRECTIONS <<<

First take your extra 1 cup of cranberries and freeze them. You’re going to use these for garnish + they’ll keep your drink cold. So they look good and serve a purpose. Cut your lime into 6-8 small wedges. To create 1 drink…

Take one of the lime wedges and roll it around the outside of your margarita glass, then dip the edge of the glass into your LoSalt. Set it aside. Muddle 2 sage leaves and 4 fresh cranberries with the tequila in your drink shaker with the butt of a large knife, or whatever you want to use to muddle. Muddling is just a fancy way of saying smash it up. Pour in the cranberry juice, lemon juice, triple sec and agave. Shake everything together really well. Toss ice into your drink glass and strain in the margarita mixture. Garnish with a couple extra sage leaves and a few of the frozen cranberries. Voila! Enjoy!!

Early Happy New Year!
