{recipe} Banana à La Mode

This recipe is another one of my easy restaurant recreations. In Virginia, there were these two amazing little places that moved across the street from each other and they both served their own rendition of this dish. The Thai restaurant served classic vanilla bean ice cream and next door they got saucy with it and served a variety of Japanese ice creams that included ginger, green tea and plum. Both ways were spectacular and delightfully effortless.

One large banana will make 2 servings of this dish. When serving more, just use more nanners ~ Two bananas serves 4, 3 bananas serves 6 and so on...

Ingredients
1 Large Banana
8 Wonton Wrappers
2 Tablespoons Butter
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
2 Cups Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
2 Tablespoons Honey
2 Tablespoons Chocolate Sauce

Directions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cut the banana in half, then slice each half in half again, lengthwise. Repeat one last half cut on all 4 banana segments, lengthwise. You will end up with 8 long banana slices. Melt butter and mix with the olive oil.  Brush one side of each wonton wrapper with the butter and oil mixture, flip, then place each banana slice in the middle of a single wonton wrapper, corner to corner. Fold the wrapper in half over the banana slice, then continue to carefully roll each one. They will look like little banana cigars. Place all of the banana rolls onto a greased cookie sheet, then pop them into your preheated oven. Bake for 10 minutes, flip and bake for 5-10 more minutes. Keep your eye on them. I typically go a full 10 minutes on each side, but depending on your oven, they could use a little less time. They are ready when the wrappers are just turning golden brown and before the wrapper ends get too dark. Place 4 banana rolls on each plate in any design that you fancy. Add a nice cup size scoop of ice cream and drizzle each banana ice cream combo with 1 tablespoon of the honey and 1 tablespoon of the chocolate sauce. I usually like to dust a little powdered sugar to really take the dish over the top visually, but my husband forgot powdered sugar at the store {turd!}. So, if you would like a dusting of powdered sugar for an extra lovely dessert, go for it!
